Together for the children of La Chaux-de-Fonds

Dear Kiwanians,

We are turning to you with a call for action and solidarity in response to a situation that requires our collective support and commitment as Kiwanians. On 24 July, the town of La Chaux-de-Fonds was violently hit by a devasta- ting storm that left behind a landscape of destruction and desolation. Homes, public spaces and, even more worryingly, outdoor spaces dedicated to children in our region suffered considerable damage (parks, public zoo, outdoor leisure facilities, etc.).

The citizens of La Chaux-de-Fonds are deeply shaken by this disaster. As Kiwanians, we have a responsibility to respond to this call for help with compassion and determination. This is why we have launched the "Kiwanis 2300" Action, an initiative aimed at uniting all Kiwanis clubs in Switzerland to make a significant difference to the lives of young people in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The number 2300 was chosen for its symbolic significance: it is the postcode of La Chaux-de-Fonds. We are asking every Kiwanis club in Switzerland to contribute CHF 2’300 to this cause. This sum will help to rebuild a play area and meeting place for the children who have been hard hit by the storm. It is also a way of demonstrating our commitment and solidarity with our fellow citizens in times of crisis.

Objectives of the « Kiwanis 2300 » Action

Play area : Our aim is to fund a play area in one of the city's parks in its entirety. These spaces are essential for children's physical and emotional development, and by rebuilding them we are contributing to their future well-being.

Kiwanis Solidarity : The « Kiwanis 2300 » project is an opportunity for every Kiwanis club in Switzerland to show that we are more than just an organisation. We are a united family, ready to answer the call of duty when our fellow citizens need it.

Proving our values : As Kiwanians, our values of service, leadership and empathy come to life through our actions. The « Kiwanis 2300 » Action is an opportunity to promote these values and give them concrete expression.

How to take part

Each Kiwanis club is invited to make a donation of CHF 2’300 (any other amount is welcome). The funds raised will go towards the construction of a children's playground in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

« Kiwanis 2300 » is not just about numbers. It's an opportunity to leave a lasting imprint on the hearts and minds of younger generations. Together, as the Kiwanis network in Switzerland, we can make a difference and offer the children of La Chaux-de-Fonds a brighter future.
